In The Beginning...
Aqua-booty! was started in downtown NYC in 1993 as a part of the after hours party House Nation. Moving to West 14th Street in the meatpacking district, aqua-booty became a weekly event on Thursday nights featuring the best underground house music with a diverse crowd. The devoted crowd along with resident DJs Tony Humphries, Danny Tenaglia, Greg Cuoco, Tedd Patterson & so many guests helped take all who attended on a special journey into the deep. Playing the best new music and classics with unexpected surprises the crowd was pulled into a rhythmic connection with the DJ, taking the party to another level. Word spread and people knew that going to an Aqua-booty! event meant a great time out.
1995 saw the party move a few doors down to The Cooler for the start of a monthly series of events. The next month saw another location in the East Village at The Bank. While doing monthly events at the Bank, Aqua-booty events started in London and in Miami for the Winter Music Conference. Aqua-booty has always been a place where DJs are able to freely express their craft, uninhibited by commercial demands. These pioneers were chosen for their unique abilities and are now legends in the world of dance music.
Everyone involved in Aqua-booty! are grateful to all those who helped and who made the party possible. The DJs, the performers, the hosts and door people and staff and the people who attended who really created an atmosphere that is so very special.
Now we are ready to continue that journey here in New York City. The legend continues...
